Busy Woodpecker

Returning home from shopping, I found this little fellow working on our dead tree.  He's so pretty!

And he's evidently been VERY busy!

Ward Trunk-Or-Treat

(And chili cook-off.)

Evie was a styling cloaked witch, Lizzie was Jasmine-ish, and Carson was a knight in shining armor.

Loved that Carson wanted to play with his friend Tony, who was dressed as a dinosaur but Carson kept calling it a dragon.

This picture surprized me; Evie looks so unlike my little 6-year-old - more grown up.

Big Boy

Cole wanted us to know just what he thought of mixed fruit.

Date Night

Aaron and I snuck out, playing hookey from parenthood for a night this weekend.  We chose one of the dates I made for him for his birthday earlier this year, the 'Bookstore Date Challenge'

Laughing over set 1 #3, 'find a funny joke to tell your date'.

Our respective set 2 #2, a book we each enjoyed as children.  Aaron loved 'Where the Wild Things Are' while I picked out 'Charlotte's Web'.

At the end of the evening, we had a lovely pile of books to show for our challenge, as well as several ideas for things like future dates, things to cook together, books to gift eachother, etc.

Following our book-tastic outting, we hit up the local 'fro-yo by the oz plus toppings' place, Yo-Mama's.  Such a cute place!

We both loved our creations!  Aaron had vanilla/apple custard yogurt with all his favorite candies including Reece's Pieces, gummy worms, candy corn, hot fudge, cookie dough pieces, and sprinkles (green and gold - GO PACK!).  I had an awesome white-chocolate-macadamia yogurt with m&m's, marachino cherries, toasted coconut and hot fudge.  Such an awesome adventure and so yummy!

Bathroom Progress

Aaron was super lucky to have help both with the primer and with the paint when taking on the bathroom this weekend.  Carson was happy to get down and dirty with Daddy, then DadB lent a hand to get the lovely color - a sandy shade - painted on.

This morning, Aaron tackled the tile!  This tub is going to be absolutely beautiful!!  I told him so.  Gushed over it.  I'm so, so, SO lucky to have a husband that wants to improve our home and who does it, even if he didn't know how before he began.  Totally willing to learn to make it a beautiful happy place for us to live.

The light makes it all yellower than it really is, but I assure, it's a lovely color!

Cause and Effect

Earlier in the week, I posted this picture from my phone to Facebook.  This is Cole at 6 months, 3 weeks, pulling himself to standing for the 4th or 5th time.  He's since gotten pretty good at it.

Today I found him playing here.

(Please excuse the mess, really.  With Aaron working so much on the bathroom at the top of this set of stairs, all his construction mayhem ends up here.  He's recently removed the stack of stuff that used to be where the fan is, I just hadn't gotten to sweeping up the dust.)

Then doing this.

All that resulted in this. :)  And, notice, I DID sweep those last two stairs and the hallway a bit.  Just so it didn't look dirty twice. :)

I now have to drop his crib base lower, keep the downstairs door closed (thank goodness we HAVE a door there!) and keep the coffee table further from the couches to put off the inevitable head-banged-on-table-edge.  Wish us luck with mobility!! :)

A Trip to the Orchard

The three youngest and I went to a nearby apple orchard this week.
This boot reminded me of Wall-E - a favorite Disney show.

The kids and I thought it was so cool to walk under this goat bridge!  On either side of us were two goat pens, and this bridge connected them.  Neat.

Cole wasn't content long here.  We tried several things to keep him happy, but he was most pleased with being left on the grass to play.  Naturally. :)

Carson read a story of the three billy goats gruff.

Lizzie and Carson both got to feed some goats.

Carson seldom left this train.  He's enamored!

Cole liked it, too!

A friend was kind enough to take a picture of me with my baby; I don't get many of those!

Lizzie spent lots of time in this maze and loved it.

Carson was truly d.on.e. by the time we left.  We tried to squeeze another photo in anyway.

Happy Happenings

Saturday found us carving pumpkins with cousins at Grandma's house.

Aaron's been working hard on the upstairs bathroom.  He even put in a window and re-sided the area beside it!  (It's the one that's a single window instead of double.)

Inside.  The whole room gets it!  The tub used to be on the west wall and is now on the south.  The toilet moved a foot furher north on the east wall.  The sink used to be on the south wall and will be on the west when he finishes.  At this point, Aaron's gutted the room, taken out and replaced a window, re-plumbed, re-wired electricity, put down floor and put up drywall, among other things.  He still needs to tile tub and floor, paint, and put in the sink and toilet.  It's been a month in the works and is expected to be another 3 weeks due to working on this and keeping that pesky full-time paying job. :)

Today I took some pictures of my nephew and snapped a couple of my sweet six month old while we waited for Baby N to drift to sleep.
