These are a couple of the things that I made - and I'm SO proud of myself and it's been so hard to wait the last little bit before Christmas to display them here!
This is the fourth tree skirt I've made. I took pictures all through the process deciding whether or not to make a tutorial with it - anyone interested? Anyway, this one was made for Aaron's brother, David, and his wife Linnea. I didn't take a final, complete pictures, but I backed it with green adn red flannel and trimmed it with red lace. (The others were for me and Aaron's two sisters, Katie and Carmen.)
This is the one I'm most very proud of. It's a duel-sided table runner for my little sister. One side has a Christmas theme...
The other side a spring theme.
This one took lots of planning and cutting and sewing, but it was completely worth it! It made me want to do another for myself...maybe in two years or so when I get over the anxiety. :)

I love that tree skirt! Did you have a pattern or make that up? So cute!
Isn't sewing fun?! And rewarding! Especially when it all actually turns out. Good job on your projects, and an especially good job on keeping them a secret! That can be sooo hard sometimes.
I always wanted to sew but we never had a sewing machine and there wasn't a single person to show me. Then I married Brooks, and well, you know all about Mama Jo and Esther's sewing talents. It was my goal that first year we were married to make a quilt. Esther helped me, and it was only squares, but it is one of our favorite blankets!
Keep sewing and it will get easier and funner the more you do! I still get anxious before a project, especially at the cutting part!
Amy - My mom made one at a Relief Society activity from another sister who brought a "brown bag pattern", which I think means she just had the thing already made and sketched it out for everyone else to make. I loved it forever and made one for myself as soon as Aaron and I were married. :)
That is so awesome. You are so talented. I struggled with my first piecing project and your mom is the one that saved me. I love the tree skirt.
