After the parade in the morning, we went home and the kids had naps, then we headed over to Aaron's parents' home for swimming and family barbeque. There was lots of swimming fun and yummy food to eat! The little boys fell asleep on the way home, and Aaron offered to stay home with them while the girls and I went to the local fireworks show.
I took a TON of fireworks pictures, and only have these dozen that I really liked. I've been playing around with the camera more, getting out of my programmed comfort zone, so some of the pictures I might have liked were strange and over or under exposed.
This was a slower exposure, but I thought it looked nifty.
These next two were the same style of firework from different angles at different times in the night. It was cool, the difference it made!
This was another slow exposure. Because it took 20 seconds, it caught 3-4 fireworks all going crazy. Strange but pretty.
The hardest part of the night was after the show. We took our time walking back to the car, since we'd been parked at the back of a large lot and figured we couldn't get out first anyway. The girls enjoyed the walk, stopping along the way to watch fireflies as we dawdled. Once we got to the car, we waited for 45 minutes before we could move, and another 20 before we got home (a five-minute drive, usually). I filled my time chatting with my sister on the west coast (convenient) and the girls both fell asleep. They even slept in the next morning! It was surely a fantastic 4th of July for us!
