Thursday and Friday, we got together with our cousins to carve pumpkins. It was a real treat to have all the kids together, since the older kids' teachers had inservice. We had a nice, spooky lunch with mummy pizzas and bloody squid, (hotdogs pierced with dry spaghetti, boiled, served in a pool of ketchup) followed up by cinnamon apples. I didn't get any pictures of lunch, but I know Jenny did, and am hoping she's willing to share the pictures at some point. Then it was down to business. GrammaB also came, and did the dirty work of cutting the victims open and gutting them. Jenny, Gramma and I did the fun part of carving the faces while the kids directed our cuts.
Evelyn and Natalie (weeks apart in age) decided to sort out pumpkin seeds. I had intended to bake them, but they're still sitting on my counter, nearly a week later, rinsed and probably rotting.
We really enjoyed having everyone over, especially since this was the first time our cousins have been to our new house. It was an adventure for them! Evie and Lizzie made sure their cousins got a chance to play with (nearly) all the inside AND outside toys. They really enjoyed having time together again!
