Spring Break 2018, Day One: Mini Reunion

We had such a blast on spring break!  We planned a visit to Aaron's grandparents in Mesa.  Our morning flight, we were surprised to see friends from our ward also heading to Mesa.  We hung out and chatted a bit at the airport, but never really saw them after landing.  The Phoenix airport was a zoo!  Getting our baggage (thank goodness for Southwest's free 2 bags per person!) and then our rental car were tedious tasks.  After finally getting settled in our rental, we hurried to a park in Mesa to meet up with so much family!  Aaron had two other cousins visiting Mesa and he has one who lives there with his family, so there were four cousins all together with Grandma and Grandpa B!

We had two rows.  On the flight there, it was me, Carson and Evie together...

...while Aaron hung out with Lizzie and Cole.  This worked out really well, though we usually pair them differently.  Carson did great by me because I put my headphones on him and let him listen to an audio book for the flight.  Aaron and Lizzie watched Apollo 13.  Evie and Cole somehow were content with pretzels and windows.

There was pizza and other picnic foods to munch while we visited.

Grandma was in such good spirits!  She loves to see family!

The kids adored this covered playground.  Granted, this kind of thing is almost necessary under that hot Arizona sun, but it was just perfect for us.

Evie latched on to her second cousins, Brooklyn and Peyton, and formed a fast friendship.  Both girls fall between my girls; one does cheer and one does gymnastics, so Evie was in heaven!  They haven't seen each other in years, and it may be a while before they're all together again, so seeing them love so fast and deep was a joy to me!

The oldest cousin had plenty of opportunities to push the merry-go-round, and he seemed to really enjoy it!

Aaron showed a couple of his cousins Cole's scar.  Cole loves to have his story told!

The older boys congregated around a football.

The three biggest girls bonded over gymnastic performances.

I love the matrix-like effects of gymnasts in still-shot!

Grandpa joined in with the guys, having good conversation.
Grandma had fun being silly and testing the bunny ears one of the cousins brought for a game!

Teagan helped his mom get ready for a bunny-tails game.

The four big girls cooled off a bit by hanging their feet in the nearby pond.

We got the kids together for a couple of fun games.  There was a bunny relay.

Great Aunt Bobbie had prizes for every game!

This one was tough; passing an oval bubbles container without hands.  It was a hoot!

Katie had such a group of boys between the big girls and herself, but she had plenty of fun!
