Merry Christmas Eve!
The kids got to open their one gift, fun pajamas! After decorating quick cookies for Santa and putting out the reindeer food, we snuggled together and read Luke 2 and talked about my nativities. Then they were all sent to bed. I was impressed that we put them in bed early and still they went to bed without a fuss or a peep. Santa should come more often if that's the reaction they give to bedtime!
(Quick note. Evie noticed, looking at several of my childhood Christmas pictures, that the red and white mailbox is in several. She insisted that we have it in our Christmas Eve pictures now. Reid siblings - it's mine now, in case you've wondered where it went.)
When the kids were all in bed, I indulged in some photography play. Specifically, I was playing with the way the light is in the pictures when I focused on either the tree or the cookies. It was fun.
When Aaron got home shortly after midnight, we made some finishing touches and got ourselves to bed. It was a pleasant, quiet Christmas Eve.
