December second is our traditional trim-the-tree day! (The first of December is 'Mom and Dad get all scratched up putting the tree together while one or two kids actually help and the others "help") So on the second, with the tree put together and lit, the kids wait patiently (ahem) while Mom and Dad unwrap ornaments for them to hang.
By the end, we're all ready for a cheerful picture!
In truth, this is generally a slightly stressful activity, but the kids and I really do enjoy it. This year, they started asking about some of the ornaments' histories and that made it more fun. Besides decorating the tree, we also put out all the rest of the Christmas decor, like my nativities, a few snowmen, and some miscellaneous figurines. I love having the house decked for the holidays!
